Dragon Fruit is a fruit of genus Hylocereus. It
is also known as pitahaya. The stems of the Dragon fruit are scandent,
sprawling, creeping and branch profusely. The length of the nocturnal flowers range between 25 and 30 cm. The shape of the fruit is oblong to oval. White pulp and
edible seeds are found within this red fruit. The seeds are black in color and
are rich in lipids. It has a nutty taste. The flesh has a mild sweet taste. The
fruit is used to flavor alcoholic beverages and juices. The flowers can also be
eaten.
